This is part 3 of a 3-part series.
The tools
I like to call it the toolbox since that is what the picture is of.
Note: Word of warning this area can be tricky. It's very important that you do not delete or disable any of thing in the start-up that has a file path of c:\windows\system32 . You also may not want to delete/disable your anti-virus, backup, video card, or sidebar.
We do not recommend deleting anything in the start-up and only disabling start-up items.
Some common items to disable are: Instant messaging software, Google update, Adobe update, Adobe ARM, anything Apple or I-Tunes, etc.
The idea here is anything that you don't use on a daily basis or items such as anything I-Tunes Google Update, etc. These items do not need to be started when the computer is booted because they will be started when you use each service or program.
So how do you disable these items?
1. Open the CCleaner.
2. On the left hand side click on Tools.
3. Now inside of Tools click Startup.
4. Now select each item that you want to disable and on the right hand side hit the disable button.
You can reference the screen shoot below so you know that you are on the right screen.
If you have questions on a particular item in your start-up please send us an e-mail: Joe@turbotechnicians.com

How to keep your computer cleaned and tuned part 2 of 3
This is part 2 of a 3-part series.
The Registry
Reference the below screenshot for the registry settings.
The Windows registry is a database that stores all the configuration information for the Windows Operating System and all of its applications. These registry items known as "keys" each have a value and each key and value are a configuration setting for a program or application. All of these settings collectively tell your computer how to make the operating system, software and hardware interact correctly. (In short it's VERY IMPORTANT!)
Keeping it clean and free of old registry keys is critical to keeping your system running smoothly. Old registry keys from old programs that have since been removed, modified, or upgraded will clutter up the registry database. When the registry database is cluttered with unnecessary information it takes more of the computers processing power to search the database for keys and values for the applications you run thus slowing down your computer.
How to keep the registry clean using CCleaner:
1. On the left hand side there is a registry tab.
2. Here there are a variety of settings you can change in the registry cleaner section of the CCleaner. Leave all of these settings checked and simply hit the scan for issues button. After issues have been found hit the fix selected issues button. Congratulations you're done!!!

How to keep your computer cleaned and tuned part 1 of 3
This is part 1 of a 3-part series.
Your computer is just like you car is many ways. You might be thinking "that's crazy talk" but it's true! Your car needs to have it's oil changed right? I hope so if not you might just have a billion dollar car on your hands. Your car needs to have almost all of it's fluids changed regularly, filters checked and replaced and mechanical parts checked and replaced at regular intervals. Well your computer is just the same as your vehicle from a maintenance aspect. It needs to have a variety of maintenance from removing junk files to check operating system file integrity.
Remove Junk Files/Clean the Registry/Optimize Your Start-up
Please reference the screen shot below for the referenced settings:
Part 1 Junk Files
You have probably heard this a thousand times but it's important!
The best utility to accomplish all three of the above is actually FREE! It's called CCleaner and it literally stands for the crap cleaner because it does just that! It cleans all the crap out of your computer.
Once you have downloaded and installed the CCleaner there are a few tweaks we recommend to really optimize your cleaning.
Tweaks:
Under Internet Explorer
Uncheck - History & Recently Typed URLs
This will allow you to keep you web history and your recent searches and typed URLs (if you want).
Under System
Check - DNS Cache
This will help speed up internet browsing and ensure you aren't viewing an older version of a website that might be cached on your computer. (your computer caches websites for speed purposes but you don't always get the most up-to-date content from the website)
Under Advanced
Check - Old Prefetch Data
This data is used by you Windows Operating system to help boot up your computer faster and open applications faster. However, over time this data gets old and the Operating System doesn't always replace it. Therefore, we recommend cleaning the prefetch data and you can ignore any warning prompts CCleaner provides about prefetch data.
Now that you are all setup all you have to do about once a month or more often if you surf the web and use you computer a lot is just hit Run Cleaner and you're done cleaning junk files.
